Last half day in Mandalay, and off to Bagan

Today has been good so far.  I went with Kang to the Maha Myat Muni Temple, around Southern Mandalay first.

It was a really nice Temple, with a beautiful golden Buddha, which I helped put some gold leafs on (there are constantly people putting more golden leafs on it), but it was so commercial.  Both Kang and I have noticed how commercialized Buddhism is here.  They have donation boxes eeeverywhere, and there was a huuuge bazhar just outside the main praying area.  They sold everyhting Buddhist that you could imagine; even some fake goldfish tanks with rotating images of Buddha and what not.  Crazy.

Anyways, then we went by the Shwe Inbin Monastery.  It was another beautiful monastery, in a really poor part of town, and the main pagoda was built of beautifully carved Teak wood.  We hung out there a bit, and walked around, admiring the beautiful ornamentation, before I headed back to the hotel.  Took a shower, checked out, and here I am.

Now we'll head to the airport in about an hour, and fly off (so so cheap) to Bagan.  There you have it.
