We have also timed things very well to be here while the family celebrated Thanksgiving. I have celebrated Thanksgiving with my family in the past but it was Christians first. It would be one of my favourite holidays with the focus on being grateful, being with family and not as commercialised as other holidays. The big turkey dinner is also wonderful! We particulary enjoyed the pumpkin and apple pies made from produce from the garden
Later today we will be visiting a stream where the Salmon are swimming upstream to spawn and then die. Apparently some the fish will be up to 20 kilos in size and there are so many you can reach out and touch them. Unfortunately as they are in various stages of decay we will not be catching any for dinner tonight.
Last night we were discussing the dangerous animals in Australia and Canada, we were particularly concerned about the cougars and grizzly bears. We heard a story about the largest one ever seen in Alaska which when standing can peer over a one storey building and a man standing beside it would be looking at the bears navel. This bear had eaten two people in the previous 72 hours one of whom had shot the bear four times doing little more than making the bear extremely angry. Thankfully bears will be hibernating this time of year!
