We had finally arrived in Australia!! We were really excited to see friendly faces and our trip to Fraser Island. Cass picked us up from the airport aster going to the wrong terminal we met up with him. We headed back to his house that Lauren and him shared with his mum, two sisters Shade and Silvana, Silvanas boyfriend and Cass' cousin. His dad and younger brother we also staying for the weekend. The house was really big and they had their own pool too. The streets reminded us of neighbours! We chilled that evening and got our stuff ready for our road trip.
We left early the next morning and Cass drove. It was about 4 hours then a ferry to Fraser Island itself. Lauren had booked us a really nice hotel to stay in called Kingfisher Bay. It was a resort but reminded us a bit of Center Parcs situated within a forest. We managed to get a upgrade on the villa we had too as it so ended up getting a 2 story apartment which was lovely. That day we spent relaxing around the pool, watching Cass do 'bombs', then the boys took us for sunset drinks on the beach which was gorgeous
The next day the boys arranged the 4x4 so we could go around Fraser Island the next day. We had another relaxing day by the pool & booked in the specialty restaurant for dinner. At this restaurant we got to try Kangaroo, Crocodile & Emu which was fun to do and the main courses were amazing! The boys surprised Lauren & I with birthday cakes also which was really sweet!
The next day we picked up the 4x4 and set off! Chris loved it & was like a big kid when driving up 90 mile beach! We saw the ship wreck on the beach & found a beautiful creek. It was a scorching day which was perfect! We heading to Lake Mackenzie which was the most beautiful place I have seen! It was fresh water that was crystal clean which a pure white beach! We wished we had come here & spend more time there. We were on a time limit because of the tide on the beach & our ferry back. We didn't want to get stuck! On the way back to the resort we had done really well not to have any trouble with the 4x4 because most of the drive was through sand dunes. We had to to get stuck on the last leg! It wasn't major & some guys helped  us, it didn't help that the sand was so hot it was hard to stand on even with flip flops on!! The drive back to Cass & Laurens wasn't too bad but we were all tired.
The next day we all had a lie in and Lauren & I did a bit of shopping! It was nice staying with them as we could have home cooked meals!! we also went to the gym on a free pass which killed Chris & I - he was aching for days after & I had huge blisters!!
We had decided to go to Australia Zoo, it was just Chris & I that went. We got the train which was really easy but took ages on the way home! We had a really good time there, fed Kangaroos & held a Koala!
On the Thursday we went to Surfers Paradise for a look around & planned to go out there later as it was a cheap night! Cass sister Shade came with us which was nice! We had a laugh & couldn't believe how hot it was coming out of the club at 5am!
We went to surfers beach the next day. It was a huge stretch of beach which was lovely. It was only 10 minutes drive from Cass & Laurens house, & we had fish & chips. Fish was gorgeous but chips are nothing on English!!
We booked our skydive at Bryon Bay. This was about a hours drive from Arundel & it was lovely because Cass, Lauren, his sister, cousin & friend came to watch us. Again it was a amazing day the weather was perfect. It was a bit of a stressful morning as we found out that a good friend of the boys Huia had passed away. What made it worse was that he was meant to be meeting us in Bryon Bay. The skydive was one of the best experiences ever! It was such a mix of emotions, from being upset then a huge adrenaline rush from the jump! I felt more excited than nervous on the jump which surprised me. We were glad we purchased the DVD because it was over so fast but we absolutely loved it!! After we had done the jump we went for a drink on Bryon Bay beach & met up with my friend Emma from work. We wished we could have spent more time here but we were leaving the Gold Coast the next morning.
We had a lovely time with Cass, Lauren & his family but we were excited to explore more of the East Coast!
