Koh Phangnan is another island off Phuket. In order to get there we had to get a bus and ferry which took all day. We were only just feeling better but it was still a nightmare. We piled into a mini bus to then be taken to a coach. Chris was sat next to a man who wouldn't move his legs when Chris sat down so he was cramped and ended up telling him to move up! We then had to wait 2 hours at a mid way point to then be taken in a cramped public bus to the ferry port. The weather wasn't very nice and the sea was really choppy, so the ferry was rocking. I had to just go to sleep on the ferry as I felt quite sick and this isn't like me. When we arrived again it was a stampede to get our bags that were all thrown out onto the pier in the dark so no one could see their stuff! We found our bags then got into a pick up truck to take us to where we were staying. It was quite late now and we had been traveling for ages, we just wanted to get to bed. Our hotel wasn't far which was good and it was really nice. We had a bungalow/ villa type room but it did have ants in the shower which wasn't nice! The hotel has a pool which I was excited about going in but the weather was shocking for the 5 nights we were there. We couldn't believe it. It was the first rain we had seen since leaving England and it was probably the worst place to have it in. It left us with literally nothing to do. We had a TV and DVD player in the room so this was our life saver.
The full moon party wasn't until the 3rd night so we just stayed in the room most of the time. We were really disappointed with the island. It was literally a place to stay for one night then leave. There was no nice places to eat and it was quite run down. Apparently there was nice surrounding areas and waterfalls on the island but we couldn't get to venture out due to the weather! One night we went out for food and the rain was like a monsoon. It was up to our ankles, swishing down the street, even my waterproof mac didn't keep me dry!
The night of the full moon party came, We were a bit deflated as we had been stuck in our room for days but it was good because the rain had held off that evening, We got our uv paint on and went to the beach. It was really busy and had a load of bars along the beach, It wasn't what we expected though and we came to the conclusion the full moon party has too much hype about it. We should have just stayed in Phuket. We had a nice night anyway and the full moon was amazing! It was lucky we didn't get caught up in any drama as Koh Phangnan is known for bad things happening.
We were happy to leave and had booked our ferry to Koh Tao This is another island close to Phuket and Koh Phangnan. Typical Thais, it was lucky we even got our ferry as we had booked it in a shop near our hotel and the day before we left it had closed down there was nothing left in there! Crazy!
