. Men vs. women... of course, the men took it down! All the while we were driving around we would be either listening to Kai's funny stories or listening to 80s music. Everyone seemed to know the words to all the songs no matter where they were from. American music is a universal constant across the globe. We got a great informative trek through the rainforest by Cousin Kai. Learned not to touch anything in the forest as tons of the plants and animals are very poisonous, deadly or will take you out for a few months. Australia has got to be the worst for dangerous plants and animals either in the water or land. After the rainforest with huge and of course poisonous spiders everywhere, we headed to a cool waterfall with a natural waterslide that we all cruised down. The water was ice cold but it was really fun as we all started to become friends. Went to a few more waterfalls and had a good lunch in the countryside. Ended up at a great waterfall you can see in the pics where they filmed the Herbalessence commercial. Tried to re-enact the hair flip in one pic. Afterword, we tried to spot some platypus with no success and then shared a beer and headed back to Cairns. By the end of the trip, everyone was singing each of the songs outloud with us almost tipping over "Gus" as we all rocked in sync to "In the jungle" - ooo whem bo wey o whem bo wey. Overall, a great tour with many cool people. Part of what I really like about travelling...meeting and becoming friends with random people all over the world.
CMB- Got up in the morning to go on a tour of the rainforests and waterfalls around Cairns. Makely decided to stay in the try to get over a cold he picked up out on the Great Barrier Reef. Ended up booking with Uncle Brian's tour which ended up being a great tour with a bunch of cool people from all over the world. Cousin Kai was our tour guide and was quite a character telling tons of funny stories. He basically gave up his job 6 years ago and went walkabout by himself in a van all over Australia. He was supposed to be gone for 6 months to a year and ended up gone for 3 years and finally landed himself in Cairns to get some roots....maybe me too? As you can see by the pics, we saw a bunch of waterfalls, rainforests and great landscapes as we were cruising around on "Gus", our van. You had to refer to the bus as Gus or incur the wrath of Cousin Kai. Funny icebreaker where we had to pass a ring from person to person by using a match in your mouth. You couldn't use your hands. Definitely helped get us all closer... Next, event was brainteaser puzzles that we all had to do
