Not quite as expected the seats reclined quite a bit and it's quiet so I get two seats...at the beginning. I always seem to forget more people get on at different stops so the carriage quickly fills up. We noticed a group of loud and drunk Irish travellers at the station and they camped up at the front of the carriage while we were at the back. Great! That was until it turned out they were sitting in the wrong seats and so ended up right behind me. I thought it would be fine with my ear plugs in but a couple of them were so drunk they kept bashing into my seat and every time they steadied themselves they ended up knocking my head! Eventually they settled and quietened down and so after a complimentary cake and glass of water we all tried to get some sleep. It wasn't particularly comfortable but the trip seemed to fly so I can only assume I got some sleep. Minutes after being awoken we had to rush to get our backpacks down from the overhead storage and get off the train. It all ran smoothly from there. We'd booked a combination ticket which covered the train, the bus from the train station to the ferry (about 30 minutes away) and our ferry to Koh Tao. It was still early but at least we were on our way. Next stop – Koh Tao.
