We awoke early to the sound of Chad leaving the apartment to set up for our second confined water dive off of the BICD dock 12 feet down.  We arrived at BICD and practiced putting together our kits several times under Kori's watchful eye.  Once she was satisfied with our abilities, we suited up and long-strided off the dock.  We descended to the bottom of the ocean where we would continue to practice skills required for certification which included achieving proper buoyancy, flooding our mask, losing our regulator, removing and replacing our kit underwater, and ascending with an empty air tank.  We successfully completed the skills and even saw our first barracuda before surfacing.
We didn't have much time for lunch as we were going on the Whale Shark Research boat again just after noon.  We grabbed a quick meal across the street from BICD at Lidia's Bakery and Cafe.  Michelle opted for the omelet.  At the recommendation of Kori, I had a Super Baleada, a form of Honduran taco that can include beans, eggs, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, cheese, and ground beef in a huge flour tortilla.  This monstrous Utila taco was just what this hearty appetite needed after our time underwater.  While eating, Kori informed us that the clients who had booked the Whale Shark boat moved their trip to another day freeing up the rest of the afternoon.  We grabbed a much needed nap before heading back to BICD in the evening to attend Chad's lecture on Whale Sharks. Chad did a great job informing the twenty attendees with his presentation.  By attending both the Whale Shark tour the previous day and the lecture, we would be certified Whale Shark Specialty Divers once we completed our open water course.
We headed back to the apartment after the lecture and crashed after another long but fun-filled day.  Next up, we will have our first open water dive.  The boat leaves early and the reef awaits!
