We will be heading out to Islas de la Bahia (The Bay Islands) in early August. The Bay Islands are a group of islands about 20 miles off the north coast of Honduras. We will be visiting the islands of Roatan and Utila. Roatan is a picture perfect Caribbean Island that had stayed off of most peoples radar until lust recently. There are already cruise ships frequenting this island, but we hope to experience it before it becomes to commercialized. Utila is more of a backpackers island, where SCUBA Diving is the main attraction. Both Islands are surrounded by the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef which stretches over 1000km from the tip of the Yucatan. This reef is the 2nd largest in the world after The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This makes both Roatan and Utila a mecca for diving in the Western Hemisphere. We plan to relax a bit before meeting up with some good friends and taking our PADI Open Water SCUBA Certification course. Utila is world renown for it's SCUBA courses, so there is no better place to learn. Check back in August for updates from us, or like us on Facebook
