Where I stayed
"Far Out"...that's the name of the place I stayed at on Ios. Its FAR OUT, check out the photos on the website.
First off, the last night in Santorini there was a Dodgy guy staying in our dorm. Haing left of the night out, my Hav's were left next to my bed. When I returned home there were gone, being slightly intoxicated I noticed but expect to find them the next morning. Next morning, they were nowhere to be found...I am convinced that the guy must have taken them...very low.
Having arrived in Ios with Alistair, Hav less
Ios is know as a Party Island and well...its reputation is well deserved...it parties and parties hard...imagine the biggest night of the year in Melbourne...and its like that every night....generally you staring drinking at the pool comp around the pool at about 5 in the Avo and keep going hard until 4-6 the next morning..sleep until about 12 and then start it all again..Its intense and really bad on the Wallet. I spent 500 euro on the six nights I was there and that was cheap compared to other people.. Alistair spent 180 on his first night and decided he could only spend one more an he went and spent somewhere over 100 on the next night...
Its a place that redefines the meaning of being an Alcoholic..My quiet night involved drinking 2 litres of beer and one jug of Cocktails...that was quiet.I was back in bed by 3:00...The fun bit of the night usually starts when you decided to head home..as the walk is so far and there are no taxis at all you have to walk..so you end up stumbling home with a group of people...and to make it even easier for the drunk people stumbling home there is a shortcut to far out that cuts about 15 minutes of the walk...but its down a donkey trail, pitch black and has some steps that are about 60 cm high...can you imagine the fun times that were had..there were people all over the place..often you would find people lying about laughing on the path..about falling over...it was hilarious..
The strangest thing was that pretty much everybody in town was Aussie. Like about 200 of them, there were just everywhere. I met 2 girls, Cat and Cortney who worked at Doyles a restaurant my family go to regularly. Adam a Physio from the Epworth hospital in Melbourne who has done Triathlons with me, the 4 of us now hold the 3rd place record for Giant Jenga and a bar called Fun Pub...And to top it all off on the first night I bumped into Shaun or Kiwi as we knew him at school. He left peninsula at the end of grade 10 to go back to NZ...Haven't seen him for 6 years and I still recognised him...It was great to catch up..he is staying in Ios for the season..I expect him to leave minus a liver...
I just had all my clothes washed today..I usually chuck all my whites in as well because my clothes have been washed so many times that they never leak ink...but in Ios at a drinking contest I had won this Red t-shirt..which I thought I had thrown out...you can guess what happened next..i now have 3 pink wife beaters and all pink socks.....should be fun on Mykonos (the Gay Island) with my pink wife beaters!!
