Kalgoorlie - cool little outback town which owes its existence to gold mining. The Superpit is formed from a conglomeration of the previous gold licences and is massive. The little specks in the picture are excavators and trucks. Apparently its calmed down a lot recently but the gentle rumble of V8s, the few remaining working brothels and the last outpost of skimpies are all that remain. I panned for gold and prospected with a metal detector. Not very good at it either way but I did find some tiny bits of tin.
