We got up super early this morning (7am) to head out to the airport. Once again my Dad was doing the honours so we would not have to mess around with luggage on commuter trains (thanks Dad you're the best!).

It's always sad for me to leave England, and it seems as though England is sad to see us go also as the sky is producing a lot of tears this morning. I hate flying, but even more so when it's pissing down.

Bags checked, we headed to departures to grab some breakfast. The selection was limited so it looks like our last meal in England will be a Weatherspoons breakfast. This was our first Weatherspoons of the trip and sadly it produced our worst meal. I did treat myself to a breakfast Stella which was pretty tasty. Airports are the one place on earth you can order a pre-noon beer and not be judged. Other highlight of the airport was Leslie posing for a photo with a giant Harrods bear woohoo.

On the plane my attention turned to what lay in wait for us in Orlando. It has been 10 weeks since we last saw our car. Would it be there? If it was would it have all it's wheels and windows? And even if it was i seriously doubted that it was going to start? In fact i was so sure that all would not work out that i have not even bothered booking a hotel for tonight.

Landed in Orlando in time and made it through security in record time. Which if i may say so does not say much for America's border security. This is the conversation i had with the immigration officer:

Immigration Officer: Where have you come from?
Me: England
Immigration Officer: How long were you there?
Me: Around two months.
Immigration Officer: That's a long time, why were you there?
Me: Catching up with family, you know Christmas that kind of thing.
Immigration Officer: What kind of work do you do that allows you to take two months off?
Me: I don't work.
Immigration Officer: What does your wife work as then?
Me: She doesn't work either. We are traveling. In fact we won't be working for at least another 3 months.
Immigration Officer: How are you funding this?
Me: Savings
Immigration Officer: Wonderful. Welcome home Mr Marshall.

Now if that conversation does not deserve being taken into a side room i don't know what does.

Our bags were among the first ones out and the hotel we parked our car at sent a van to pick us up in record time. So far everything was going great. Our luck continued as. old blue was still sitting in the same place i left her, with all windows and wheels accounted for. Unfortunately our luck ran out as i turned the key to start her up. She was as dead as a dodo. The hotel valet was nice and offered to give us a jump using a guest at the hotels car (Not sure that is cool, Reminder to never leave my keys with a valet!). Unfortunately the jump didn't work as the cables i have are shit and need the jumping car to be revved for around 5 minutes. Since we were basically using a stolen car and the valet didn't want to get caught I let him go and called AAA. AAA arrived in 30 minutes and had us running in no time.

Now we had the car running, i booked us a hotel for the next two nights. Thankfully the car started without assistance the next morning and we took her for a service at the Orlando Volvo dealership. Me and Les tucked into a Cheesecake factory lunch while the Volvo guys worked their magic. Service complete and the Volvo given a clean bill of health (Including the battery), we headed back to our hotel and spent the remainder of the day organizing the car and booking Disney tickets. Tomorrow will be my first day in Disney World for over 20 years and i can't wait :)

One final Orlando note is how bad the weather has been. It's cold here, I thought this was the sunshine state? Can't believe i left all my winter jackets back in England.
