Where I stayed
The drive to our 1pm tour was pretty uneventful other than stopping what seemed like every couple of miles to pay yet another Florida highway toll (Florida is by far the champion state when it comes to tolls). As we approached Everglades City we started to see signs warning us about "Panther Crossings" which was a little worrying. We later found out that Floridians call Mountain Lions, Panthers. So no need to worry about getting attacked by a massive black cat if your in the sunshine state
The air boat tour was great fun, and it was nice to see a couple of alligators roaming around in their natural environment. We even got to see a family of Raccoon's living quite happily in the Everglades (I don't know how they survive without humans trash bins to rummage through). Although saying that they do look a lot smaller than the ones we left behind in the creek.
The other cool thing about air boat tours is that you get to wear a fetching headset with attached microphone. I think Les got a little shy so it was left to me to break the silence asking questions of our guide, I really could not give a shit about the answer too. After 45 minutes of small talk about the changing environment in the glades I was out, and relieved that tour was done.
Spent the rest of the afternoon driving the remaining hour to our second Holiday Inn Express in two days, living the dream my friends.
And that was pretty much it.
