A's stop in Detroit complete we said farewell to our bat infested campsite and began the 500 mile trip south to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, where we would be meeting up with our good friends Marc and Louise from England. To break up the ride we decided to spend a night in Lexington, Kentucky.

But before we could set off for the day I had a piece of unfinished business with my good friend Brandon from the Volvo dealership. I was so angry after Leslie and I had spent time rolling around on the floor the day before in Detroit trying to fix the plastic undercarriage that they had clearly not screwed in properly following our oil change a couple of days previous. I had left Brandon a couple of choice voice mails during our drive back from Detroit and now i wanted to see what he had to say to my face. Brandon was busy when we arrived, no shit Sherlock! (This guy knows how to hide) so it was left to Jason to explain that they would fix the issue immediately. I was still waiting for  an apology. Once again we waited in the customer area, but today i was in no mood to enjoy the coffee and popcorn. We briefly saw Brandon scurry through, but before i could corner him he was gone again, calling out behind him that our car would be fixed soon. I am super pissed now, and i sense that Leslie has also joined the let's kill Brandon campaign that i had been promoting. I went for a walk outside to cool down as the other customers had probably heard enough from me about how much of a joke this place was. While i was gone Jason had returned to inform Les that our car was fixed and that it was not a part they had touched, he also informed her that the dad of one of the employees had died the other day and that they where under staffed. That's weird that you would profess innocence followed by an excuse i thought, Les told him that she did not care who had died (I have married a tough mean lady). Brandon finally arrived on the scene and  we finally got our apology, he said this had never happened before. I told him that i hoped i  would never see him again and asked whether the tires they had rotated for us would stay on.

We arrived in Lexington a little after two, where we took full advantage of our hotels laundry and pool facilities. Marc and Louise had threatened us with some hard core camping in the coming two weeks, and we needed to take advantage of all the luxury while we could (I should note that we are staying in a Holiday Inn Express, so my idea of luxury has been seriously downgraded lately). Dinner was had at a Thai restaurant across the road which had good reviews. Massive mistake, why didn't we go for southern cooking. Couple of beers then off to bed. We are going hard core camping tomorrow. No showers for 3 days, i can't wait!
