On our way to Munds Park we first stopped at Arcosanti, a really interesting development in the desert. We had lunch there in their cafe, it was all very home grown and organic. The kids were less than impressed, but we enjoyed it! Then we continued on to Montezumas castle, some facinating cliff dwellings made over 1000 years ago. Also signs saying that over 100 rattle snakes live in that small area. oh yay!

We then carried on to Flagstaff, passing Munds Park and collecting some supplies. We met with our hosts Don and Laura, who were sadly heading off for a few days so this was our only chance to meet them. They were really lovely and we hope to get a chance to get to know them better in New Zealand in the future. We ate a quick dinner and then headed to Munds park as we were all pretty shattered. What a Beautiful home, in a truly peaceful setting, just what we needed! We slept soundly and the next day enjoyed a lot of relaxing and just hanging out as well as the mundane task of sorting through luggage and getting a bit organised, and an opportunity for the kids to get some school work done. Laura and Don also have a ATV and Chris and I enjoyed taking the kids for rides up into the forest, which literally surrounds the park. There are signs everywhere to look out for stags and all of the locals have said oh yes, they are everywhere, but we spent some time those first couple of days scouring the neighbourhood to no avail. Maybe we were just trying to hard.

The next day we headed our early to Sedona as we were booked to go on a Pink Jeep tour. Once again our expectations were exceeded, this was amazing fun and what an incredible place. We headed back stopping for brunch on the way and came home to get some school work done. Oh yay the children cried!

Chris and the girls went horseriding one morning through the forest.  Zack and I did the shopping, you decide who had the best end of the deal.  Then we went on to the Meteor Crater, very cool, especially as a wind storm came through and it was wild.!

Now off to Grand Canyon, still scouring the sides of the road for the ellusive elk.

Wow - it all loooks soooo gooood. I am so envious. Like the pink jeep idea. And I might have gotten on a horse if I had been with you!!! But is there a Robert Redford kinda cowboy there somewhere.
Love to you all and hope you kids are getting top marks on the schoolwork.
