We woke up and got the subway to Shinjuku where we found a bus company that would take us to Kamaguchi-ko, a town near Mt Fuji. After about 2hrs the bus arrived and we had a Fujiyama Curry (complete with mountain shaped rice!) for lunch near the station.
Then we walked about 1km to a large lake near the town where we caught a ropeway (read cable car) to an observation deck near the summit of Mt Teiyu. Once we got to the the top you had a fantastic view of Mt Fuji and the surrounding landscape. After waiting for a little bit the clouds broke over Fuji and it was clear enough to see the summit! During the wait, we climbed to the summit of our own mountain, where there was a small shrine.
After some photo taking, we took the ropeway back down to the lakeside and walked back to the bus station. We had a bit of a wait for the bus back to Tokyo so we caught up on a couple of things on the internet, we also had a nervous moment when we thought our bus had gone without us, but it was just turning around! Back in Tokyo we bought a veritable feast of things to eat, took them back to the hotel as we needed to pack for going to China tomorrow!
