We arrived in Prague on the train from Budapest a little before dusk and, after roaming through the train station, Hana managed to book a loft room in a hotel about 20 minutes walk from the train station.

Even during the course of this short walk past row upon row of beautifully restored buildings, we knew we were in for a treat over the next three days.

We have visited some amazing cities on our journey so far but none as incredible as Prague. Spanning the Vitava River, Prague does a spellbinding job of showing off its 1,100 years of architecture, culture and cuisine.

Even if we had done nothing other than stroll through the cobbled, narrow and windy streets of old town Prague, we would have had a magical few days. Instead, we managed to pack quite a lot in in the 2 and a bit days we had, including visiting Prague castle (including the phenomenal St Vitus Cathedral and the very very yummy St Vitus Brewery), the 13th century Charles Bridge, the 15th century Powder Tower, the old town square (including the 15th century Prague Astronomical Clock), the Jewish quarter, the National Theatre and we even fitted in a ghost tour!

Its the perfect city for immersing yourself in history. Around every corner is a new gripping story – from the Knights Templar and their fight with the King of France, to the town’s clockmaker who had his eyes gouged out to stop him plying his trade elsewhere in Europe, to the Prague Spring against the country's Communist dictatorship.

We tried the Czech staple, goulash – yum! It is basically a thick beef stew served in a bowl made of brown bread. And before our ghost tour I had potato dumplings – the stodgiest meal I have ever had but definitely hearty!

As you may know, the Czech Republic is very well known for its beer. Prague is the largest consumer of beer per capita anywhere in the world. The country is also the home of Pilzner, my favourite type of beer it just so happens! So, you can see we had many many good reasons to enjoy our time in Prague and start planning in earnest to return as soon as possible – preferably for the Christmas market in the old town square – we can imagine the city would look quite a site under snow!

While in Prague we even had time to apply for a bunch of jobs! Keep your fingers crossed.

Time to catch yet another train, this time to Krakow in Poland. But before easing out of the station, I just had time for a quick hair wash and cut. It’s sad I no longer resemble our second most famous mascot (a sheep) but having a bit less hair certainly makes me feel cooler.
