So today I got up early and caught a train down to Cinque Terra. Thats a region of Italy that has five small little fishing towns right on these cliffs on the Mediterranean. The train was a good ride, I had a car to myself so I just slept for the 3 hours. I went to La Spezia to transfer, another small town near the Mediterranean, which was kind of nice. Then I went into Corniglia, which is the most cliffsided village (if that makes sense). It was very nice, a cute little town. I went around some shops there, saw a lot of great views of the other towns and the ocean, then went to go hike the trail to find out its about an hour and a half to each place, then you pay 6 euros. I decided to take my free train ride to the next town, Vernazza. Vernazza was cool as it was right onto the ocean. There was a little public beach with a bunch of little kids swimming and all sorts of fun little places to see and stores. Just past the beach you could jump off some rocks there, where steps led up to a nice restaurant. I ate a slice of pesto pizza and some fantastic kiwi banana gelato, and was off. Next stop was Monterosso, which was the biggest of the three I went to (really of the 5). I went to the beach, walked around the town. They had a cool statue of a guy looking like he was holding the cliff up called il giganto. Then I took the train out to Pisa, where I saw the Leaning Tower. They werent kidding, its leaning... It was cool to see and Pisa is a really pretty city, I liked it. I ate right next tot he tower (had pizza in Pisa) and then came back home to the hostel. There I hung out with the Aussie from yesterday, a kiwi we just met, 2 Germans from the otherday, and another Aussie that we met today. We played card games and hung out until bedtime, when we were kept up by an old guy snoring sooo loud. I cant talk because apparently I talked in my sleep last night, but this guy was loud. So Luke threw his pillow at him, funny stuff. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I dont know what Im doing... we shall see...

Happy Birthday
Christopher,
Happy Birthday Thanks for all your updates, they are fun to follow. It sounds like gelato is a big part of the European experience.
Have fun,
Dad
