Where I stayed
Bang Bao Remark Puzi - beach huts

Ventured from Bangkok having eventually found the right bus, and got to the ferry to Koh Chang just as the sun was setting. We were crammed in to the back of a jeep and dropped off on a dubious track, without lights and civilisation it seemed. It was lovely to pass the multiple stray dogs and rubble to find our blissful beach hut hidden away in a stunning palm tree glade.

We were staying in Bang Bao - a small development on Koh Chang, with a street and pier of shops and little shack like restaurants. On the first day we wondered along the bays and found hidden idyllic beaches - white sand, mango shakes and turquoise waters with scorching sun - lush. Jk walked me, a lot, and then we relaxed back at our huts in the adjoining his and hers hammocks before prepping for New Year. Our last sunset of 2011 was spent on a rock side, eating a freshly cut watermelon, looking out to sea.

New Year's day, we woke to what appeared to be the Hangover part three. Parched, with no expensive camera, blurry-eyed, I had someone else's shoes and jk didn't have any... what had happened? We tried to ignore the impending insurance claim and panic of 'we've been robbed', by sleeping in till 1pm. By which point we dragged ourselves up, only to find the camera hidden in my bag, in my slightly tipsy way (if I hide it, no one will nick it). The camera allowed us to verify that the night had gone as we imagined and not taken a turn for the worse. We hit Lonely Beach and went to several lovely bars, with live music and good food - Jk ordered his, promptly tipped it all over himself and ordered another. We saw the New Year in with some lovely Swedes (we can't remember their names), on the beach front with fireworks popping over the bay.

Happy New Year - we I hope it's happy for all of you xxx

Hello! Happy New Year. Glad you're having a lovely time (you lucky things). Still in Delhi at the moment, and I'm really pleased I came! Some great people on the tour (and a grumpy 72 year old Norwegian man - yes, the single man I mentioned, and no, it's not going to happen Zoe!) so I have company :) I've been riding around on the tuk-tuks all day today, love the insane traffic and shocking driving of everyone in Delhi. Look forward to reading more of your updates. Lots of love xxx
