Later that day, we visited one of the local schools that was built by the doctor we are working with who has come to Uganda every year for the past 40 years. As we entered each classroom, the kids would all stand up and repeat in unison a long, rehearsed welcome message. We would then proceed to introduce ourselves to each of the classes in a slow, robotic voice, enunciating every syllable: "Hi, my name is Lawrance. I am studying to be a doctor." Then the kids would cheer and clap rhythmically. How awesome is that?
