We left Eagle, Colorado after a great, free breakfast at the hotel.

The Rockies continued to overwhelm us. We stopped along the highway at all the scenic turnouts to take pictures and gape at the mountains, streams, and trees. We drove pass the ski resorts at Vail and others along the way. We searched for Bighorn sheep around Georgetown. We didn't find any, but we did search. We crossed Loveland Pass, watched rock climbers who made us cringe, and took the backway into Golden, then on through Denver.

Of course, at that point the mountains are behind you and once you are out of Denver there is nothing but prairie ahead. For our English friends, I'll just say that the prairies (especially in Colorado) are long low rolling grasslands that are pretty empty. This is where the buffalo used to roam and where the really big cattle ranches in the old west were. But after a while it makes for some pretty boring driving. Dave was a saint and drove all through the prairies in Colorado, then I took over part way across Nebraska. Nebraska is somewhat greener and is more traditional farmland, although farmland on the grand scale if today was anything to judge by.

Tonight we're in Kearny, Nebraska home of the University of Nebraska (the Cornhuskers). We had dinner at Whiskey Creek which is similar to the Texas Roadhouse.

Our mileage for the day was 497. This brings our grand total so far to 3497. We should make it home tomorrow night, although it may be late.

Wow, what a great trip! You all must be pooped! Now you have to figure out how many hours a day you were driving. Keep truck and have fun and be safe. Chris
