Up at 6.30 to be ready, brekkied, checked out, bags stored to get a cab to the train station at 8am. It took us about 5 hours to get to Phinsanouk and we had lunch on the train, some kind of fish and rice then i had a quick nanna nap. It was freezing on the train & we were all in jumpers - a strange thing !

Getting of the train we jumped into a songthaw - a type of ute thing with a roof, benches and open air sides, the roads here are 1000 times better than Cambodia.
It was an hour to get to Sukhothai where we stayed at No 4 Guest house. The boardings were really nice - they had bamboo type huts with single beds & mozzie nets.

Frogs came to visit in the bathroom sink, there was no A/C and the shower was over the toilet. (all open air - you could see into the cabin next door while you were showering!). It was magic to come into this from the usual chain of hotels! We ventured into town for a look where i ended up sending an email - it was getting dark so i quickly cruised back to the guest house and chilled out with the others.
We had dinner upstairs with the frogs and geckos - it was like an open air structure with the kitchen underneath (remember to bring the aeroguard!) Dinner was a great buffet of a few Thai curries... After we chilled out with our full bellies I ended up going to bed early so i could try and get up early so I could head into town and watch the monks get their food offerings from the local people..!
