A relaxing morning we all met for breakfast around 9.30/10am.. it was a quiet morning, returning sarees and checking the internet -- I booked a trip to Morocco today with 205 off).   I went for a walk up to some of the ramparts at the top of the fort before returning to the hotel to get my bag ready for our overnight camel safari.   We walked with all our bags through the lanes -- the shop owners must see it everyday as they said to us "have fun on the camel" ... hehe...
At the bottom of the fort our jeeps were waiting to take us into the Thar desert... We drove for about 30 mins and passed some interesting Indian buses - packed with people sitting on the roof...  Our camels were sitting waiting for us so we put our bags in the camel cart and were allocated a camel according to our size.   Mine was called Kalu which in Hindu which means black -- and he was... he did a great job - didn't spit, moan or crack the shits... We even went for a little trot - Vern and his camel had to tag along as he was tied to mine..!   Our arrival into camel camp was met with relief - there is only so much camel riding you can do!
Our camp was pretty basic - beds in rows outside the hut and a campfire.   We all had a well earned beer then went up to the top of the dune to watch the sunset.   Instead of doing this we ended up running and jumping over the sand dunes and taking silly photos ... was really funny... We all got puffed pretty quickly so we headed back to camp and relaxed around the fire -- we were soon joined by 3 people, 2 girls who sung to us and a guy playing a funny flute type instrument... Trying to guess their ages we were totally wrong -- i though the 13yr old girl was about 21!   They got us up for a dance (lots of hip whacking and limbo-ing) before our dinner arrived -- some chapati, dhal, pickled lime and cabbage -- was basic camp food but it was great!   We chatted for ages and all went to the outdoor toilet before heading to bed just after 11... Lucky they provided us with blankets as its a bit chilly out here -- but it is kinds of nice to feel a bit cold for a change..!
