Pai is the most relaxed place I have visited yet. Period.

Situated in the very north of Thailand, probably less than 100 miles away from the southern Burmese border is Pai. With desert like semi-arid conditions meaning that it was 37 degrees in the day and 15 degrees at night. A perfect contrast of temperature.

When I look back on my stay in Pai and say what I achieved, i really can’t tell you an interesting story. However, you might be interested in how chilled out I was for... however many days i stayed there. That’s it right there, I havent even recorded in my mind how many days I was there for, which is saying something.

But, it’s not only me who is lazy in Pai. Many other falang (foreigners in Thai) go to Pai to do exactly the same thing. You can even buy merchandise that says “I did nothing in Pai”! And you really don’t do much.

When i arrived i was with a my newly made French friend from the night before - Alex. Considering I had never made a French friend before (and I didn’t really intend to) he turned out to be a good travel friend of mine. We were worried about accommodation because we arrived in Pai late at around 8 o’clock and it would have been very bad if we couldn’t find anywhere to stay. Thankfully Alex had friends already in Pai (more French) so they were able to sort us out at the greatest guest house ever: Family Guest House.

Family Guest house was run by a very kind Thai woman called Joy. She was unique because she almost didn’t care about her business. She prioritised others peoples satisfaction over hers, which is commendable.
