Hey all!
I´ve made it through my first 2 weeks in site. Things here are pretty good. There is a great group of volunteers up in my area. It has been nice to have some people to show me around - all the good places to shop and eat. Then of course the essentials like the bank and the super. I still have a few things to find like the post office and the bike store since I now have a bike - I got it last night! It makes getting around so much easier already, just gotta get myself a lock so I can take it when I go into town.
I have a lot of potential projects. It´s just a matter of getting to know my community and figuring out what takes priority. My work starts in the local school...it´s going to be a definite challenge. It´s hard to know where to start because everything in training is so structured and now it´s like...you go find the work! There are a lot of community things to work on and with the other volunteers around I can collaborate with them on the projects they´ve already started. It´s nice to have something to keep me busy while I´m still trying to find my niche in the community. I´ve already got plenty of requests to teach English and another volunteer who is leaving in August asked me if I´d be willing to take over his classes.
I´m going to attempt to post some photos, we´ll see if I can get them to upload or not...things are kinda slow at the moment! Miss you all...hope you are enjoying the updates!
