We left the FMCA Rally and got on the I-89 across Vermont and into New Hampshire. Another one of my classmates, Nancy Shanklin Matthews, lives in East Hartford, VT just before the NH border, but she and her husband, Ted, met us for lunch at Chilli's just into NH. They also had been at our 50th Class Reunion, so it was nice to touch base with them again and this time for Terry to meet them.

After lunch, we drove on across NH to our campground in Eliot, ME and close to where another classmate, Gretchen Backes Vercauteren, lives in Rollinsford, NH. The campground was back in the woods and they had a storm a few days before that brought down a lot of trees, so they were trying to clean up the mess. One big tree had fallen on the roof of the indoor pool, right next to the office...yikes!

On Wednesday we drove over to Gretchen's house and her husband Bob was waiting for us in their pool. Terry quickly joined him in the pool, but I waited for Gretchen to get home. We chatted until Gretchen arrived a short while later, then she and I got in the pool to cool off, too.

We had visited them four years ago but this time we got to spend a little more quality time together. We went to lunch at a quaint cafe in Rollinsford and afterwards, they drove us around for a little bit of sightseeing. Then we went to the market to get dinner fixings and returned to their house to relax in and by the pool.   Bob showed Terry around their property, gardens and the guest rooms over the garage that are mostly used as Bob's 'Man Cave'.

Later that afternoon we all went to the stables where Gretchen rides and helps out with all the horses. I had been there four years ago and it was nice to make a return visit. Gretchen no longer has her horse 'Rebel' but she rides the others, mostly a nice white mare named 'Lexy'.

The Shetland Pony 'Chrissy' is a favorite,  and the 3 week old filly named 'Lullaby' was adorable and frisky. .

The stable owners Keith and Michael also have three dogs, a black Lab, named 'Callie', a Chihuahua named 'Peanut' and a charcoal Toy Poodle named 'Soot', and of course, I had to play with them, especially 'Soot'.
