Arriving in San Antonio, as soon as we got settled in at the RV park, we headed to downtown and the beautiful River Walk. We had a great Mexican meal at the Casa Rio restaurant right on the Riverwalk. It's such a lovely, unique and fun place to visit.
We had both been to the Alamo before, so we didn't repeat that. We had planned to also go to the Six Flags over Texas Park there, but the weather was not cooperating. In fact, all the way from California, the weather had been a lot colder than we were used to and we didn't like it very much. At least it wasn't raining or anything else, just cold and windy!
We didn't especially want to go thru Houston, so as we were studying our choices we came across a really nice RV park in Montgomery, TX a bit north of the big city. We liked it enough to stay two nights and just relaxed a bit. Terry even got to do some fishing in their private lake.
We moved on to Lake Charles, Louisiana for the next night, and we started to see the damages from Hurricane Katrina. Things like trees down and places boarded up, etc. Remember, this was seven months after Katrina hit.
