Our next stop was at Lake Elizabeth RV Park & Golf Club about 16 miles from Palmdale, CA. It was another resort that although it's open all year, is really best in the summer, so not much was functioning...no pools, no spa, no fishing pond, no paddle boats, about the only things available were the game room and the golf course (but only 5 days a week). We really didn't care too much because we used it more as only a place to park the RV while we drove in our SUV to go visit family and friends.

My son Carlos, his wife Tracy and their precious daughter Carlyna-Bella (17 mo. old) had just spent almost two weeks over on Maui. While there they visited with my daughter Sandi and her significant other 'Bear' and also spent a week with another couple from CA who also have a baby girl about the same age.

So we were waiting for them at their home when they came home. It was only the second time that I have seen my darling grandaughter. The first time was when she was 7 months old and I flew in to CA for my other grandkids' graduations. So we visited for a few days, then returned to the RV for a night.

On Friday, we drove in the SUV to our cousin Suzi's place in Bear Valley Springs near Tehachapi for a couple of nights. At the last minute, Suzi and her husband Frank, had to be away from home until late on Friday, so we dropped our stuff at her place and continued driving to Bakersfield (about 45 min. drive from Tehachapi) to visit for a few hours with our very good friends Jeff and Linda.

We went to dinner with them and then drove back to Tehachapi.  Jeff, Linda and their son Jarrod operate a Fireplace, Stoves and BBQ business in Bakersfield and were getting ready to open another shop in Tehachapi, so we saw them again the next day at the new shop.

We had a really nice 'catch-up' time with Suzi and Frank as well as their son Joseph, who also drove up from Bakersfield for a short visit. Sunday morning, while Terry and Joseph played golf, Suzi and I went to breakfast at the Clubhouse, then returned to her place for a short horseback ride. Suzi has a really nice Paint horse named Cyke. Next time we visit there, Suzi and I will be able to go for longer and much prettier scenic rides.

Then on Sunday, we drove back and moved the RV to a park in Santa Paula and I stayed a few days with Carlos, Tracy and Bella, then I went to my daughter Karen's condo in West Hills in the San Fernando Valley.

Karen and her kids, Cheyenne, now 13 and Ryan, now 19, and I spent the next 10 days or so catching up a bit. They all lived on Maui and we were very close. Now the kids are growing up all too fast and I don't get to see them enough.

Meanwhile, Terry did some catching up of his own with several friends that he used to work, and/or play golf with before he moved to Maui. He moved the RV to Northridge, close to some old friends, Pat and Teri. Karen, the kids and I also drove up for a short visit with them.

Then everyone came to Karen's place for Mother's Day and I cooked a Brazilian bean stew favorite called 'Feijoada' for dinner.
