I met a guy at the couchsurfing meeting, a local, his name is Kas.
He cought my eyes because he was wearing a t-shirt with two (gay) dogs having sex printed on the front and a sentence on the bach saying: "so many dogs, so few recipes".
He's a disigner and a good karaoke singer.
He told me he lives in Ubud, the Balinese artist town, in a villa that his boss rented for him. I asked him if I could go and visit him! :D
I was of course attracted by the idea of spending a few days in his villa but also because we share the same passion about japanese anime, and he has loads on hic laptop!!
That's how i ended up in Ubud.
I didn't like Bali till I reached Ubud.
ubud is a lovely small town surrounded by green rice fields and hills. A town that is like an art gallery, the streets are filled with shops and exhibitions showing colorful paintings, intricated woodworks or psychedelic textiles. And at the end of each alley you're sure to find a cosy balinese style SPA!
Like the one I went to, the day after my birthday as my special present!
I treated myself to a Lulur Ayu ^^ A Balinese massage, body scrub, yogurt slash and a relaxing bath with floating frangipani ans ylang ylang flowers...lovely!

I love anime and manga too! My favs are Slam Dunk, Samurai X, Lone Wolf and Cub, etc.... but Slam Dunk is my all time fav!
Bali isn't big but also not that small. You cannot judge Bali just from your impression about Kuta. Ubud, Bedugul, are among the most beautiful inland Bali...:)
I didn't enjoy Kuta, even though I had a lot of fun with my friends there! it's just not my kind of place, but Ubud is lovely! I was actually looking to move there before leaving Indonesia. ^^
oh and "Lone Wolf and Cub" is one of my favorite manga! o(>_<)o
