After a great nights sleep we got up early to make the most of our day. After a huge buffet breakfast we got our places by the pool only to be told it was shut because of over chlorinating!! We moved to the beach and had a relaxing time lazing and dipping in the Indian Ocean then in the pool when it finally opened after lunch. We started to drive back at 3pm doing the loop ie south down the coast to Fujairah then back north to Masafi. Amy had one map which seemed adequate since there was only one road and this was dual carriageway. However, at Khor Fakkan there was a huge port that wasn't on the map and the carriage way went all the way to it!! Somehow we'd missed the turnoff to Fujairah! We turned round, all the signs were in Arabic and Amy realised we were in Sharjah, which adheres to traditional costume only, funded by Saudia Arabia, and we had tee shirts on with our pashminas packed in the suitcase! This meant we couldn't stop and ask for directions as we were 'indecently' dressed! You can imagine what we thought of Khor Fakkan and how we pronounced it, but I managed to place a petrol station on the map and we turned the correct way and after a couple of miles there was a sign to Fujairah in English! Whew, a panicky moment on the trip!
After stopping at our favourite petrol station in Masafi, we passed which must have been a 'go slow' for lorries as there was about 5 miles nose to tail of them driving towards Dubai, luckily they were all on the inside track. We stopped for a wagamammas take away and were relieved to get back to the flat safe and sound after our adventure in the desert!
