Had a great introduction to Dubai today.  Amy drove is to the Marina (I'd walked down the wrong road yesterday) and we had a starbucks overlooking al those massive expensive boats!!  We then went to the Bur Dubai area, this is by the Creek.  It was crowded with construction workers who have the day off but no money and nowhere to go!!  We walked alongside the Creek, very atmospheric and you certainly get the feeling of Arabia.  Walked through the textile souk and examined all the pashminas, then past a Mosque calling people to the Friday prayer, past the Old Fort which is the museum and I'll do another day, to the Batakitah Quarter to have a drink in the Basta Art Cafe.  This was a wonderful place, within walls and with a huge tree in the middle providing shade.  There were cushions and lounges.

We then walked through the old quarter and saw some filming going on and Amy explained the wind towers which in the olden days provided air conditioning!

We came out further along the creek and walked along, admiring the view and the Dhows and walked back to the car.

Amy then drove us to Dubai Creek Golf Club, another plush place to her favourite restaurant (she seems to have loads of these!!) caled The Boardwalk.  We were lucky to get a table right overlooking the creek and had some wonderful fish and chips and lemon mint drink which was delicious!!

We then went to the public beach (Um sequim) with a wonderful view of the Birj (yet again) and 360 club which Amy promises to take me to later in the week!

We were both pretty tired by then so came home for a night in watching a dvd!!!  Brilliant day
