Today we saw the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet at Cape Leeuwin. The weather was appropriate, a howling wind and intermittant rain - it was brilliant! You can see the two bodies of water meeting in a crash of waves. On the tip of the land there is a working lighthouse, and we both walked right to the top with the guide (only ones again) and round the platform next to the light (cheers for Cheryl!)
We then explored the caves famous in this area. Mammoth Cave is as its name says, and you go round it on your own with the help of a MP3 player. Since we were on our own yet again we could take our time and appreciate all the stallitites etc which were very impressive (photos to come!!)
The Lonely Planet had recommended a winery (there are hundred here) which was tucked away down side roads. When we got there, we found a beautiful place with rolling lawns and waterfalls - and people!! The wine was very expensive and when we tasted the Sauvignon Blanc - ugh.
Hoping to have an easier day tomorrow and taste better wines.
