Arrived in Cordoba, Argentina fater a long flight. Cordoba is a nice town--very studenty, with green streets and flowered shopping lanes. There are some great old buildings and a few nice plazas where the Argentines hang out. Everone was so eager to chat with us!

Mendoza was even more of a garden city--and in the middle of Argentinaīs Wine Country. A lovely place! And the city park is HUGE. Like Bois de Bologne in Paris.

The food in ARG is really good, thanks in large part to all the Italian immgrants years ago. Pasta, ice cream, and coffee--all excellent! And cheap! The steaks are humongeous and delicious; Iīm stuffed after a half portion. And itīs all cheap. A really amazing meal at an upscale restaurant, complete with a good bottle of local wine, will set you back about US$10-12. Again, that is at a terrific restaurant! I know I already mentioned the ice cream, but OMG! It is fabulous, and a huge double scoop in a waffle cone costs just under a dollar.

We (my Canadian pal Brent, who I am travelling with) toured the wineries, and our last day in that part of ARG, we went up to Aconcagua--highest peak in the Americas. Beautiful! It was great day of walking around an alpine lake with views of the Andes, enjoying the fresh air...I nearly got run off the trail by a gaucho with a mule train...

We crosssed into Chile and here we are in Viņa del Mar, Chileīs main beach resort. Itīs a nice place, pleasant, with fountains, parks, an excellent museum on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) culture, and the beach--which is way too crowded and not all that.

Tomorrow, off to Valparaiso, just down the coast.
