Hi everyone,

Well here we are in Slovakia. Things started off a little iffy with no snow but since then it has been magical. The big question of the week is... why doesn't everyone Else fall over as much as I do? Not looking too cool!

So, we haven't started snow boarding yet but we have engaged in the apres ski and it's all good. Tomorrow we are going to see if we can get some lessons under our belt. Fingers crossed.

So far we have visited the caves which were quite something. We have spent a couple of days up in the High Tatras (mountain range) and visited Poprad. The old town there was something else and I even managed to have a whole conversation with a drunk guy who spoke German. I don't know who was more confused, me or him or come to that, kevin???We have done a couple of long walks in the snow and today we have been flying down flumes into thermal pools with the snow falling down on us! Kev is making his way through the Slovak cuisine specialities and I'm managing to find tomato sauce in most restaurants, so everyone is happy! Polievky (soup) is playing a big part in our lives with cabbage, sausage, garlic and beans being our favourite. They are all separate soups by the way. Beer is costing about 40-50p a pint for Staropramen and mulled wine is a mere 60p in most places. OH DEAR!

So we will love you and leave you as we have a log fire and a beer to get to. Oh how i wish I was back at work...NOT!

Bon Voyage!
hey Cheryl, I'm looking forward to following your trip - it sounds good so far. Not sure if you got my email before you left but it was good to see you and Clare at your wedding. Good luck with the snowboarding! If you ever make it to Oz, ther's a bed here for you. Take care, Ruth.
