Sorry it has been soo long, it's been a busy last couple of weeks, so I’m hoping this week I will be able to get you all up to date!

So I left off at our trip to Berlin…well that week that we got back was Juwenalia here in Krakow. Basically it is a student holiday. Classes are cancelled on Friday and it’s a week and weekend full of concerts and parties. The biggest day was Friday when the march took place. There are like 6 or 7 universities here in Krakow, so obviously it is a student city. This celebration is a way of the city showing it’s gratitude to the students. A march takes place from the student dorms to the main market square. Everyone gets all dressed up in crazy outfits for it. In reading about it before hand, I believe the tradition is that at the end of the march the students are given the key to the city gates for the weekend. Again, basically just a way of showing appreciation to the students and telling them to have a good time! I did not have a costume but I did join in the march and got plenty of pictures of everyone else’s costumes!

I did go to one of the concerts Saturday night as well, which was pretty good. There were about 6 different bands performing, one of which was actually called Iowa Super Soccer, or something like that. Well after they were done I was in line for the bathrooms and the main singer was right there, so I asked her how they came up with the name. She pretty much said it was just three random words. They were Polish and had never been to Iowa, but it was pretty neat that Iowa was one of those three random words! Haha! Anyway, I told her then that I was actually from Iowa. I could tell she didn’t know very much English but she understood what I said and she thought it was pretty cool!

Other than having Juwenalia, I would have to say that week was possibly one of the hardest weeks here for me. I was to that point that I had been here almost three months now and was getting really homesick and just sick of everything here. I needed a break from it all. Fortunately I only had a couple of days until Brandon was coming out to spend the week with me, which is what my next entry will be about! So please enjoy my crazy pictures from Juwenalia and I will soon be working on the entries from my week with Brandon as well as this past weekend in Budapest!
