One week in HK... and it was not enough! (although the heat and the humidity will not be missed)

Our fav place in asia =) Good friends! Good food! Fantastic night life!

Our jam packed itinerary:

New York Fries, Shopping on Nathan Road, Planetarium movie, The Peak, Ocean Park, Modern Toilet and Family Dinners

Charlie had never been before and as for me... I didn't really get to see much of it the last few times I went - first time was at the age of 3 and the 2nd time was with family, and with family it's just not the same. This time... we got to enjoy HK the way it's meant to be enjoyed... Thanks to sid, my aunty and my cousin Stephanie.

MTR is the transport system Sydney has to have! You buy a card and that's the key to seeing the whole of HK. You just hop on the MTR and it takes you to the doorstep of virtually wherever you want to go. There's no walking from platform to platform, in order to change trains all you have to do is walk from the left side to the right and voila!

Ocean Park: Hot, sticky and yuck - that's all we remember! It was soooooo HOT, we couldn't even bring ourselves to go on the rides. We found a water bomb fight game and we wanted to stick around there forever - required us to use huuuuge elastics to shoot water bombs at the opponent - so much fun! All we went on were the water rides... and even them... weren't worth it in the end... coz the lines were sooooo dayme long! Sweating from head to toe, our day at ocean park ended on a good note - a nice cool ride on the chair lifts up in the air... with a fantastic view!

The most vivid memory of shopping would definitely have to be the curries offering us tailor made suits in TST. "Do you want to buy a suit?" "A suit?" "Need a suit?" My gaaaaaawd. Charlie and I came up with a plan... the perfect way to scare them away... to stop them from approaching us. The method is: Once they approach you... You just go... " ARGHH ARGHH ARGHHH RAH RAH RAH". Works everytime! =)

FORTRESS: Charlie's FAVOURITIST shop!! Everytime we walked past one... it was like there was a huuuuge magnet drawing him in. I don't think I even need to describe what this shop stocked...TECHNOLOGY GALORE!!!

As for accommodation, staying at my aunty's house was quite the experience! Expecting a double bed... once we arrived... we were presented with.........A BUNK! awwww bunk beds! Haven't seen one of those since the age of 10! And guess who got allocated the top? (hint: max weight limit - 50KG) Not fun when you've had a few too many beers! And all those nights of having to creep in at 3am and containing our drunken giggles... don't think we'll be staying there again next time. Felt like I was a teenager again =D

Traumas of no internet: With millions of emails to reply and no internet... we were in distress for days! HOW COULD WE LIVE WITH NO INTERNET?!?!?!?! From sitting in front of the computer everyday in Sydney, to nooooo available internet whatsoever.. we FREAKED. Our only solution was to visit Pacific Coffee or Starbucks every morning and leech off their free WIFI.

TASTE: The BEST BEST BEST grocery shop we have ever seen. A bit like the size of a huge BIG W, filled with aisles and aisles of gourmet food! Every form of gourmet food you can think of, from sushi's to baguettes to danishes. They were all delicious!! Ranging from breads of every kind to drinks of every kind (including this deeeelicious imported french red wine we made the mistake of buying only 1 of when there was an special offer for 2 bottles - Charlie was a little peeved =P hehe)

Apart from all the shopping and meeting up with friends... all we did was EAT EAT EAT. Greasy food was the way to go... especially after our discovery of AUD1.00 beers stocked in 24 hour convenience stores. Needless to say... KFC was a must after our cheap cheap purchases. BEST thing at KFC.... triple cheesy mashies...the most delicious balls of heaven! The most interesting restaurant however... MODERN TOILET - seats were toilets, lights were plungers and the cups & bowls were urinals and sinks. Truly got confused whether the food was meant to go in or out =P

Unfortunately our fun hong kong adventures had to end... with a 17 hour train trip awaiting to take us to Shanghai (somewhere of a complete different nature... more details to come).
