November 22, thatīs Thanksgiving day, was a travel day for us.  We rode the bus from Todos Santos to Pichilingue, where we were hoping to catch a ferry to Mazatlan.  As it turns out, every guide book has the incorrect ferry schedule, and there were no ferries going to Mazatlan until the following day.  However there was a ferry going to Topolobampo, which is near Los Mochis. We had talked a bit with an Australian (maybe New Zealander) surfer and she had said that the train ride through Copper Canyon from Los Mochis to Creel (Chihuahua/Pacifico Train) was the highlight of her trip.  As it turns out, itīs apparently one of the top 10 train rides in the world.  So we decided to take the ferry to Topolobampo, stay the night in Los Mochis, and then take the train.

The ferry was pretty good.  Suprisingly, a meal was included, so I guess technically we had a Thanksgiving dinner of meat and chicken tacos with about 300 other people on a boat crossing the Sea of Cortez.  Thereīs a bar, and you can  walk around outside to take in the views - sunset was great.  They showed movies the whole trip (about 8 hours), and I was amazed at the movie choices.  In the states, they would have showed PG-13 movies at most. They actually showed Wrong Turn, which if you donīt know, has nudity, sex, plenty of violence, blood, disfigured people...  I mean, the movie was shocking...  They also showed Van Helsing in spanish, an old spanish western, and some Steven Segal movie.  The translations of the english movies are really bad - I guess they pick movies that have a lot of action and stuff so that it doesnīt really matter how bad the translations are...  I dunno.

We got into Topolobampo around 10pm, called a hotel in Los Mochis to make sure they had a room, and then found a bus that we could take there for 20 pesos each (about $4 USD total).  When we got there we grabbed a room, walked down the street to a taco stand for some food, arranged for a cab the next morning to take us to the train station at 5:30am (the train leaves early - ended up being an 11 hour train), and went to bed.
