Becky and I jump on the train to Hungary, which is thankfully only steps from our hotel in Vienna on Maria Hilfer Strasse. We arrive in a busy, dilapidated yet beautiful boned train station in Budapest a few short hours later. We decide to get cash from the ATM and have to wait in a Communist style breadline to get our dough. We finally do and in the que try to figure out the exchange rate and how much moola to get - a trick because often ATM's will give big bills and that's not what you want when you're a tourist trying to keep track of every cent! It is hot, but we decide to walk through the streets with our luggage to get to our hotel. This take us longer than anticipated, but it gives us a real eye to the city and again, in a part I am positive most tourists never see. Crumbling walls, scaling paint and dirty streets all add up to the reality that this Hungarian capital was only recently run by socialist policies and it is only now starting to spruce up its fantastic inventory of historic buildings throughout the city.
