Dublin was sunny and clear the afternoon we landed, so no going to sleep! Since going to school at Trinity 20 years ago, people told me I wouldn't recognize my first city. Yet I was glad to find my Dublin was still there, only the city was enhanced: with public art, street sweepers, the Millenium Spire, a sleek light rail tram, and modern new construction. And no smoking! Not in pubs, not in the air from the coal which used to paint the city black with soot every winter. Even with the changes, I found that most every pub, street, park and square I knew from my walk home was still in its place. Which made Dublin 2006 the perfect blend - a comforting, yet exhilarating place to explore.
