On Wednesday Amir, Lizzie, Jay and I set off in a nice new rental car (Dodge Charger) to go and see my (Charlotte's) family in Gilroy, 2 hours south of San Francisco. On arriving at Aunt Frances' house we met Frances, Robert, Mitch and Libby - and it was just like being back at home! The room full of conversation, lots of different conversations all at the same time, it was fantastic!! Being made to feel completely confortable and welcome is something we will not easily forget, and something we both now appreciate a whole lot more than ever before! We had enchiladas for dinner, and sat around a humungous television, SO comfy!!

Anyway, the next day we went for a proper American breakfast with Aunt Frances (I had pancakes of course, loaded with strawberries and cream, what else??), and then set off for the outlets! No less than 145 shops all at discount prices lie right in the middle of Gilroy! And we hit the shops!! Later, we met more family - Mike, Timmy and Christin, and went and walked the gigantic dogs before dinner!! We then sat and watched movies into the night....

The next day we drove to the Big Basin, round the little bends of the road through red wood trees and then over the hills (which reminded us of Wales) and we ended up with a good few photo opportunities!!

We headed back to San Francisco just in time for the St. Patricks Day Festivities, the bars over flowing with drunken Americans - and ended up getting wasted back at Lizzie's and Jay's, up until 4 am. A rare occurance in the US (due to the age limit...oops!) Needless to say some embarrasing photos, and even more embarrassing video footage will follow...

The Next Day, we set off (Charlotte with a hangover from hell, helped by good old McD's) to Sonoma, to sample the fantastic Sonoma Jack cheese, and check out the western style buildings. What a day that was!! I have to say, it was one of the most interesting places I've ever looked around, it was really cool - the cheese helped too!

Having stuffed ourselves sufficiently, we headed off to a public park, full of peacocks and home to a fantastic view, and a pretty fun park! We all enjoyed the swings and slides, and headed to a wonderful Italian place - Gespares (sorry for the spelling) - before we hit the SACK!!
