So after taking off at 5pm on thursday February 23rd, we arrived in sunny sunny San Francisco at 9am, thursday February 23rd!!! Yes after spending 9hours on a plane, we actaully went back in time, and had to live thursday all over again!! Thats the kind of mess the International date line puts you in!!
Not to be deterred, we strode forward with our weary zombie like bodies through the airport, untill customs, where Charlotte popped right threw on her american passport, where as I was taking to one side, then another side, and then the interview room, where as was interrogated by not one but two US officals! Everything was going fine, untill I mentioned my dad was from Iraq, then it all kind of fell apart, fun all the same though. So thats me the 18 year old International terrorist, born in Bridgend, and just having travelled to India, Thailand, China, and Japan!! Slightly over the top!
Nevertheless after 45minutes of this I was 'released' and we sped on to San Francisco centre!!
The mission was to first go and surprise Lizzie at her work, before getting the address of one of Rosie's many jobs, and going to surpise her! It did, however work out slightly differntly! Lizzie was not at her work or apartment, so we were left in limbo with nothing to do but wait! Strolling around San Francisco was fantastic! It is such a laid back and feel good city, just makes me wanna turn into a hippy!! It is also great to be back in the west. To be able to read signs and bus timetables, as well as understand peoples conversations is a certain aspect we would have definitley taken for granted before this trip, but after 3 and half months in Asia we have been taught not to the hard way!
So after what seemd like 20 trips back and fore to Lizzie's apartmnet, we were beginning to give up and slumped down on the 'side walk'!!! Then up rolls a taxi carrying both Lizzie and Jay, and from the look on the faces I rekon the surprise was worth waiting for!
Rosie pulled up later in her moving house (its a van), to find her little sister had arrived two weeks ahead of schedule! All great fun! We then went out for a dinner at a lovely Italian, before heading back to our mexican run hostel, with very very full stomachs, a sure sign that we'd arrived in America!
