After calling the airline the previous day to find out our flight time, we set off for the airport at 2.30 am, to catch our plane at 5 am. Only thing was, the silly mare had given us the wrong time and our flight was actually at the original time of 8.50am!!! So we sat in the airport for 5 hours, still bloated from our meal the night before, buzzing from absolutely no sleep, and raring to get on that plane!! A frustrating 5 hours later, we began to board and fell asleep as our bums hit the seats!! Ah!!
Awoken only by the sweet smell of food we had an all round lovely flight, and got off safe in the knowledge that we would be met by one of the most competant, reliable, fast railway systems in the world, and getting to our hostel would surely be a breeze!!!
We were actually met by signs of "Accident on the line", and every person we spoke to about getting a subway told us the trains were "broke" and that they didn`t know when we could get one. Crap.
So, we ended up on the rather expensive JR lines about an hour later, and, with our shoulders almost falling off with the weight of our silly bags, we found our hostel about 3 or 4 hours later!
Our hostel though, is lovely :-) It is basically a house, with an abundance of really teeny rooms that has been made into a hostel! With free internet, a weeny kitchen, and a nice little living room to watch tv or dvds in, it`s really welcoming! Our rooms have just enough room to walk in and out of, and a bunk bed and mini-fridge in! Small but cheap as chips (for Tokyo) so who can complain?!?!
We`re staying in a place called Asakusa, which is lovely. It`s one of the older parts of Tokyo and so, though it has lots of humungous buildings, it also has little streets that you can peek down and see dainty little buildings - really beautiful!
Today, we went to Akihabara, which is basically an electric appliance mekka! Amir spent ages going from shop to shop checkingout the latest PSP games, like a kid in a candy store!! The PSP`s here are only 95 quid!!
We then walked to Ueno, and on the way walked through a market, which was really cool! Lots of huge fish, massive tentacles, and humungous crab legs!!
In Ueno we walked around and checked out the parks etc, very nice! :-)
Yesterday we went to Ginza and walked about which was really cool! We went to the Sony store, played with stupid robot dogs, in roll cages with steering wheel etc to play racing games, and massive video cameras! We also went to the Apple store which was cool!
Anyway, my arms and hands are actually really hurting now so I`ll have to stop here but we`ll put up some photos soon!!!!
bye!
