Monumental Cemetry is something different to discover in Milano. I cycle past it every day on my way to the metro stop Garibaldi but until this wonderful Sunny Sunday afternoon had not ventured inside, for a cemetry it's more inviting that you can imagine. it houses the rich and famous dead of Milan and Italy, entire family dynasty's lie beneath the park like grounds. I absolute love this place and found it thought provoking, although also a little over the top with such money poured into a memorial once you leave this life.
My favourite but quite modest compared to so many in the cemetry, was this of an angel looking up to the sky.
I had a surprise when a loud siron went off as I guessed the cemetry was closing, I started to walk to exit as I did many men on bicycles furiously speeding around to hurd the mourners to leave, shouting 'fermata...' I found it interesting since they had to employ this to probably ask the many tourists to leave and not the mourners, it was harder to spot them amongst the statues.
