Well i was picked up nice and early and after picking up everyone else our first stop was of course for a breakfast stop .. it is hard work all this touring you know!  We then went to see a fruit bat colony and then drove up a hill which was 19km's long and which contained 273 bands or corners .. a very long and windy road!!  We drove first to the Cathedral Fig Tree .. which started life a a pip that was pooped out by a bird in a tree.  The roots then grow down to the soil and the tree then grows high up in the host tree and the roots completely take over and strangle the host.  After a few hundred years it looks as magnificent and as huge as this one does.

Then we drove to a lake called Lake Barrine .. which was very pictureesque ... and we went for a walk around the rainforest which surrounds it.

Then we went to another lake for lunch and another walk and saw some turtles in the very clear water.

After lunch there we went off to see Millaa Millaa Waterfall .. this waterfall has appeared in the timotei advert and in Peter Andre's song Mysterious Girl ... as well as other stuff for television and films .. and i went for a swim it was lovely!

Then we moved again to Mount Hypipamee Crater which was very very deep and only fills with rainwater and some more waterfalls called Dinner Falls.

Then we went back to the hostel where we were staying and those on the day trip left and those that were on the 2 day trip booked into our rooms .. i got a room all to myself hooray!  After a short rest we went off down the road to the river to do some platypus spotting .. alas we spotted NONE!

We went back to the hostel for a lovely steak and mash potato dinner mmm yummy and i decided along with 2 other guys to go on the night canoe ... it was dark .. very very dark .. only the stars were out and we managed to see lots of fishes and spiders and 4 tree kangaroos .. which are rare and a possum and a snake which our intrepid guide decided he would see if he could get out of the rocks which it was hiding in ... he touched it .. it moved .. he jumped back in the boat hahahaha ..

The next day we started off by going to see the Curtain Fig Tree ... which started out the same way as the other fig trees do but this one obviously got a bit heavey for the host tree and it toppled but landed in another tree and kept growing .. it has taken over 7 trees now and it very very big and probably dates as about 500 years old!!!!

We then went to collect our mountain bikes for this morning ride through the rainforests ... i tried to remember the last time i was on a bike and think it was probably before i got my forst moped for my 16th birthday .. so a couple of years ago now tee hee ... and the saying is true .. you never forget how to ride a bike .. although i dont ever remember the seat hurting that much .. Owwwww my bum was in agony!!  Also it became sadly appatent quite quickly that my knee is not as good as i had hoped .. and the cycling was using muscles that dont usually get used .. and i had to stop .. so i let the others go on the 12 km loop and waited for them to get back (we had done about 2 1/2 km's by then!)  So i wrapped myself up in my towel becasue it was cold and raining and laid down to wait for them .. Now they say i fell asleep and it may look as though i was asleep but i can assure you that i was only replaying a video on the back of my eyelids .. not really asleep hahahaha .. we then did the 2 1/2 km's back to the bike drop off point .. my bum in complete agony by now!!!  We also had some well desereved lunch after a hard and strenuos morning!!

In the afternoon we went to a man amde lake (where we were last night) and did some more canoeing ... throught the showers we canoed but didnt see much wildlife other than a few lizards and spiders!  We did make a stop to do some aboriginal facepainting .. well ok we just drew on each others faces with mud hahahaha and then canoed back.  Then it was back to the hostel and then back to Cairns via the very long and windy road.

I had an absolutely brilliant trip .. as you can tell as i actually remembered all the names of the people on it with me .. and you know how bad i am with names!!
