We have been on an adventure. We left Zurich on Saturday and headed to the countryside, or so we thought. We were able to see an amazing waterfall called the Rhein Falls. It was a trecherous hike to get down there. We were thinking we could stash our packs at the train station and head on our way. We did not realize that the train would drop us off on the side of hill with the falls crashing below. So we took the packs with us on the slippery, wet path. I am so glad we did. The falls were amazing. They showed so much power and strength. They were very beautiful and we were glad we made the trip.

We then continued on to the lovely town of Stein am Rhein. It is an old medeival town and it is amazing. It kind of spoiled the rest of Switzerland, because nothing was as lovely as this town. The shops were adorable, the old alley ways so clean and welcoming, and the people were very helpful. There were not a lot of English speakers here, but we still felt very much a part of things. We found a cheap pension to stay in, and really enjoyed it.

We then headed to St. Gallen, we had hoped to stay on a farm in Appenyell for the week, but the farm was full. That is what we get for not planning ahead, although we are loving the flexibility of it all. We found a bed and breakfast to stay in in St. Gallen. The older couple we stayed with were very nice and we were excited to have a kitchen. We were able to cook a bit and enjoy some of our own cooking. We were not overly impressed with the city of St. Gallen, except for the old city. The church and abbey library were amazing. It is like no library you have ever seen before. We decided to head up to the hills of Appenzell, where we were supposed to stay on the farm.

We are glad we did. The hills were a backdrop for the mountains. Mt. Santis is the highlight of the area. We walked around the touristy old town, and even saw someone yodeling. We found a bed and breakfast way up in the hills. We passed several cows to get there, and then settled in for the night. The view outside our window was amazing. The town was cute and we were glad we made the trip.

Today we are headed to Garmisch, Germany via Munich. We are hoping to relax a bit and hit Oktoberfest. We are going to see the castle that Disney used for Cinderalla and enjoy the area. We are looking forward to it.

So far the trip has been outstanding. We are only a week into it, but everything has gone very smoothly so far. We will see how the rest of it goes. We will try our best to keep you posted. Finding internet is much more difficult than we had imagined. When we do get to do it, the computers are set up so you have no access to a USB port to upload pictures. I still have hope that I will find a better set up and update the page. Until then, bear with us. It is always good to get your emails and hear how life is going back home. We keep an eye on CNN so we know more of what is happening there than when we were there.

We keep praying for you all. Keep in touch.
