I chose this morning as my morning off, with an indulgent lie in until 8am. I was all ready to out this morning when I was woken abruptly in the middle of the night by the onslaught of rain pounding against the thatched roof of the cabin, and the sudden trembling as a clash of thunder rippled across the skies directly above. The storm seemed to go on for hours, each flash of lightening illuminating the room just seconds before each commanding boom of thunder jolted the floorboards, the roof, the trees outside. I was sure that it must be really early morning - perhaps three or four am, but as I hit the light on my phone, it showed only 12am. And that's when I knew, after a good few hours awake already listening to the storm outside, that I would be lying in this morning.

So it was a morning of normalities - breakfast, in which I headed straight for the bacon - and a load of washing. With the group back at 10am after monitoring, we all headed over to the management office to make use of the Internet but with no wireless connection available, those who needed to check flight details etc took priority, while the rest of us busied ourselves scoring the ground for 'lucky beans'. The beans - seeds that fall from a particular type of tree, though I forget the name - are red and black in colour - and they almost look like ladybirds, and are hard to the touch. They may or may not bring luck, but they may make a unique bracelet; I have a feeling I'm going to be stuffing lots of random things in my rucksack throughout the next 18 months.
