We continued driving through to Austria. We knew that we had crossed the border into Austria, not only because of the checkpoint, which is a sure giveaway, but the homes had changed. Here in Austria the cows live most of the year in stables which are connected to their homes so the people can attend to them easily and the cows stay nice and snug for the long winter. The scenery was gorgeous as we travelled through the Austrian Alps although a good part of the trip was in tunnels, the longest one being almost 15km. We stopped on the outskirts of Innsbruck for lunch. It was the best autogrill, so far, that we have stopped at and the best value for money.
Innsbruck is nestled on the bank of the Inn River, hence it's name which simply means 'Bridge over the Inn'. I loved Innsbruck and would have easily spent more time here.
