First I've got to get from Edale Youth Hostel (conveniently not really in Edale!) to Castleton. This is a much steeper uphill climb than envisaged - luckily Ian and Ian are running late and we all arrive in Castleton about the same time!
We then tackle a steep path out of Castleton past Peverell Castle and onto the green lanes of the Limestone Way. It's fantastic to have company and we realise that Ian Griffiths and I probably crossed paths a couple of weeks ago on Hadrian's Wall as he was walking the Hadrian's Wall path as I was on the Bellingham to Greenhead section of the Pennine Way!
We can't pass through Miller's Dale without a quick stop at The Angler's Rest and then back to another severe gradient
One car has been left a couple miles on from Miller's Dale but we need to cut some of the distance, road walking and hills out from tomorrow's journey so Ian Griffiths and I press on to Chelmorton, with the other Ian driving around to meet us.
Then it's back to stay with the Griffiths and a delicious meal. Thank you Ian and Eve!
Being joined by the two Ians - it was lovely to walk with you.
Hamish, the black lab and the stick he picked up - he looked more like Winston Churchill smoking a cigar!
