I have just arrived in Seattle after a nice 5 hour train journey past Mount Vernon from Vancouver, and was happy to see the clouds get less and less the further south I went. The weather here is pretty mild in comparison :)

First discovery is the brilliant public transport system which is free (!) in the downtown part of the city, and is mostly in tunnels so really quick as well. Ok, not the best way to see anything but that's okay, can't have it all!

I first met up with Shawn, a friend of my brother, who told me the best places to go and showed some of the different neighbourhoods of the city by car. Final stop was the University, where the library has been built as a church (because it is supposed to be the church of knowledge). The main attraction of Seattle is of course the Space Needle, and I was there at the perfect time to see the city by daylight, sunset and then dusk. The city is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, so pretty nice :)

The next mourning I took the historic underground tour, where a few remains of the underground city (as Seattle had been for a little a while after a fire burned the city down). It was pretty funny and educational, definitely different from most of the things I've done so far, but there wasn't that much to see. Good story telling though so it pretty much depends on your own imagination!

Next was Pike Market, where the 1st Starbucks is located, as well as many cute little shops and some really weird shops with stuff no one would want (I hope!) as well as collector's items for comics and sci-fi stuff and everything food and flowers. So a pretty good mixture of things..

Now I'm back in San Francisco, it's nearly the end of my trip :( But will be good to see you all soon!! :)
