Our last day with Leo and Carol found us revisiting Wall Drug Store and then heading on to the Badlands. I have been struck by the extreme variation in the topography of South Dakota. It has everything from rolling meadows to rocky cliffs to the needle forests to flat fields. Today we saw the moonlike surface of the Badlands--beautiful and desolate at the same time. Somewhat like the Grand Canyon, but yet very different. We enjoyed the drive through the National Park, and we saw a video at the Visitor's Center. I must say our parks do a good job; the video was very informative, and the displays were educational and fun. We drove back through Custer where we had dinner. Ted beat us in Phase Ten again back at the cabin. We aren't playing with him anymore!
