I thought I would write a little closing point for Central America and a look back over what we did (it's starting to sound like a lecture eh?). A lot when you look at it, especially in such a short time. We saw volcanoes, beaches, rainforest, Spanish colonial towns and basked in the heat! Perfect really, a great way to ease into a trip. It feels like the place could be more setup for travellers though, needing some better hostels like the ones we found in Costa Rica. But then I suppose half the fun we had was getting lost and having hard times trying to see remote things. I really enjoyed the food and music here and definately want to indulge myself at home with things like refried beans, tortillas and local guitar sounds
So, would we go back? The first thing to note is that whilst highly interesting, the countries do all get a little 'samey'. From the landscapes to the culture, there is little difference from one place to another. I think I would consider El Salvador and Nicaragua again as I feel there were a lot of things we didn't get time to see and stories we couldn't hear due to not knowing Spanish. I would say Honduras was my least favorite as it felt pushy and getting too touristy. I would also like to come back and see the countries we didn't have time for - Guatemala, Belize, Panama and most importantly Mexico (this place needs a good month by itself judging on what we heard).
And as I dont want to bore people to death and I'm terrible at writing seriously I'll leave it there. Central America - hot and tasty.
